The Wicked Wicket. Click to Zoom. Photo by Missy Chilton. The weather cooperated right up until the finals matches on Sunday, and then there was only an hour delay for lightning. The wickets were tight and the lawns were fast but everyone seemed to manage. Some (mainly Championship flighters) even liked the challenge. Although, there was one wicket which seemed to be the nemesis of many. It was dubbed the “Wicked Wicket” and draped in a black shroud after the tournament. The social events throughout the tournament gave everyone the chance to get to know each other, talk croquet, and relax. New friendships were forged and old ones renewed. We all agreed that we love this crazy sport.
