Morning Coffee: Maine Croquet Championship, Wimbledon and New Zealand GC

A rundown of news and links from the world of croquet --

Personally, the wife and girls have been at the in-laws since Saturday, so I'm on day four of a five-day croquet binge. Getting on the court every day is awesome, but I may be a little behind on croquet news. Here is what I've seen lately:

A "Maine Croquet Championship" photo gallery popped up on Flickr recently. There are no captions, so I can't identify the players, but there are some great croquet photos in the set. I suspect the gallery is related to this event.

Here's a little proof that croquet is still played at Wimbledon:

"We have a full-size lawn in Aorangi Park, but it's not a dedicated croquet lawn," explains Michael Hann, reigning club croquet champion and a Vice President of the Club since 2004. "We play there all summer except for the three weeks during the tennis when our croquet lawn forms a practice court."

A New Zealand website caught a nice photo of Steve Piercy taking a shot from the line.
