Morning Coffee: Bamford Takes the British Opens Singles Title

The Mitsubishi British Opens Singles ended with a five game final between young Robert Fletcher (16) of Australia and Reg Bamford of South Africa. Bamford won the final 3-2 with the following scores -- +16 -17tp +17tp -26tp +12tpo. Full commentary is available here and the elimination tournament bracket is located here.

The Opens Doubles are still waiting to complete. The finals were delayed as Robert Fletcher was busy in the singles final. Fletcher and Stephen Mulliner won the first game versus Jeff Dawson and Samir Patel (+1) and the rest of the match is to be completed during MacRobertson Shield play. The Wine Wickets and Wheels Event held over the Fourth of July weekend in Fremont, Ohio appeared to be quite popular. Check out this article from the Port Clinton News Herald to get a feel for the event. Event results follow:

The USCA site has a photo and description on a croquet exhibit at the Ellsworth Public Library in Maine. The display will run through the month of July.
