USCA Announces 2013 MacRobertson Team

The USCA Selection Committee has announced the following team to represent the USA in the upcoming World Team  Championship for the MacRobertson Shield:

  • Danny Huneycutt (NC)
  • David Maloof (FL)
  • Ben Rothman (CA)
  • Jeff Soo (NC)
  • Rich Lamm (CA) 1st Alternate
  • Doug Grimsley (VA) 2nd Alternate
  • Chris Patmore (NY) 3rd Alternate
The 2013 MacRobertson Shield will be held December 30, 2013 through January 15, 2014 at the United Croquet Club in Christchurch, NZ; the Te Mata Croquet Club in Havelock North, NZ; and Mt. Maunganui Croquet Club in Tauranga, NZ.
The U.S. team is one of only four teams to compete at the Tier 1 level for the MacRobertson Shield. The other teams are  Australia, England and New Zealand. England has dominated the competition overall and especially in recent years. The English team has won the competition seven straight times now dating back to 1990. England holds 14 total titles in the competition while Australia and New Zealand each have three.
The U.S. team was first allowed to compete for the Shield in 1993 and the best finish has been third place. The competition is held roughly every four years and the location rotates among the four countries. The U.S. team will host the 2017 event.
