It’s Rothman! Ben Rothman is the 2016 British Open Singles Champion. In the final he beat Samir Patel (England) -26tp, +19, -20tp, +25tp, +26tp. Rothman (USA) is the first North American player to win a British Open championship title. The Open Championships have been contested since 1867; the list of champions is a nearly complete history of the game’s best players. It is, arguably, the most prestigious title in the croquet world.

The Association Plate, the main consolation event of the Open Championships, was also won by an American. Jeff Soo beat Jeff Dawson (England) in the final, +15, +20. Soo is the fifth North American to win the Plate, a trophy with nearly as much history as the champion’s trophy.
