Alix Verge. (Click to Zoom)Block play is underway! Sherif Abdelwahab had a good day with two wins over Charlie Sharpe of Australia and Evan Newel of Ireland. Mohammad Kamal also won one of his two matches with a solid win over Mostafa Eissa of Egypt. Matt Griffith came up against the number one and two ranked players in his block and I'm sure didn't go down without a fight.
My matches were held at the Williamstown Croquet Club located southwest of the city. The photo below shows some of the members who volunteered today to make sure we had all the tea and snacks we needed as well as making lunch for us. So welcoming! This club was built by a gentleman in 1926 for his wife and her friends to enjoy and it wasn't until 1929 that it became the club it is today.
I put forth a good effort but lost to Chris McWhirter of Australia and Geoff Young of New Zealand. Tomorrow's another day. The Quadway hoops aren't as awful as I anticipated, thank goodness!
