2018 AC Worlds Report Day 3

I spent today at Kelburn and I’m pleased to say that the lawns have improved in pace over the past couple of days. There was the odd fast patch in front of some hoops, but the main difficulty was caused by the wind which averaged 30 kmph and had gusts up to 60 kmph.

Most players struggled and games took a long time to finish. Indeed, Jose Riva came close to losing to Edmund Fordyce which would have eliminated him from the event. Now these two players will face off once again in a rematch at Paraparaumu tomorrow morning.

Block A: 3 players for 1 spot McCormick v Morrow, winner to play Coutts starting game up in a best of 3.

Block B: 3 players for 2 spots. Shilling v Richard, winner qualifies, loser plays Cumming 1-0 down in a best of 3

Block C: 2 players for 1 spot. Riva v Fordyce

Block D: No play-offs

Block E: 2 players for 1 spot. Mulliner v Commarieu

Block F: 3 players for 2 spots. Wilson v Jones, winner qualifies. Loser plays Giraud, game down in a best of 3.

Block G: No play-off

Block H: To be determined.

Most play-offs will be played at Paraparaumu with a few at Kelburn. The draw for the knockout will take place at 6:00 p.m. at Kelburn.
