The 2021 Rockfish Golf Croquet Tournament was a great event. 33 players from all over the US came to Chesapeake Bay to play, socialize and have fun.
Many players did not already have a World Croquet Federation (WCF) grade which made seeding players difficult, so everyone was placed into the same flight as one big knockout. The knockout play was best 2 of 3 with 70 minute games. Players who lost in the first round of the knockout (round of 32) went to compete in the Bowl. All other players went to the Plate when they got bumped out of the knockout. Bowl and Plate matches were single games. Players played as many Bowl or Plate games as they wanted and the tournament director paired players up based on over-all wins and avoided players playing each other twice. On Sunday morning, the 2 players with the most Bowl wins were paired up in a Bowl playoff (best 2 of 3) and the same was done with the Plate.
Every morning started off with Waterford doubles play, In Waterford Doubles, players have a new partner and new opponents for every game. On Saturday evening, the 8 players with the best Waterford Doubles records were paired in teams for semifinals. Players kept their partners for semi's and finals.

Connor Johnson won the Bowl with Leo Viens in second. Rick Darnell won the plate with Bryan Christiansen in second.
Of course no tournament is successful without a lot of preparation and hard work. At Chesapeake Bay, the members pitch in to get everything done and this helps keep the entry fees down.
