Merion Cricket Club's 2023 Invitational Croquet Tournament: September 23-24

The Merion Cricket Club will host the 2023 Invitational Croquet Tournament on September 23-24, 2023, in Haverford, Pennsylvania. Croquet enthusiasts and players from all around are invited to participate in this exceptional event that promises both competitive play and camaraderie.

The USCA-sanctioned tournament will unfold over two days of intense competition on 16 courts. This year's format focuses on singles matches for both American Six Wicket croquet and golf croquet, with the option of engaging in social doubles for golf croquet.

American Six Wicket Play Format

Players will be placed into the Championship, First or Second Flight based on their handicap for singles play. Within each flight, participants will be organized into blocks of six to eight players, ensuring competitive matches and an engaging experience.

Golf Croquet

The GC portion of the event features singles and doubles; however, each player is invited to register for only one of these events.

Happy Hour en Blanc

After an exhilarating day of play on Saturday, participants are invited to unwind and socialize at the "Happy Hour en Blanc." This evening gathering will provide an opportunity for players to connect over beer, wine and appetizers “en Blanc.”

Expert Clinics

Ahead of the main event, players can enhance their skills through croquet clinics led by Tom and Loretta Cooper. The clinics will take place on Friday, September 22, and offer dedicated sessions for American Six Wicket and golf croquet. A fee of $40 per clinic grants participants invaluable insights and hands-on guidance.

Practice Session

Participants are encouraged to take advantage of a practice session on Friday, September 16, from 1:00 p.m. onwards. This opportunity ensures that players are adequately prepared for the challenges of the tournament.

White Athletic Attire Mandatory

In keeping with tradition, all participants are required to wear all-white athletic attire, including clothing, shoes and accessories.

Tournament Entry

Entry fees are non-refundable after Friday, September 9. Given the limited availability, interested participants are encouraged to respond promptly to secure their spots. A Merion breakfast and lunch buffet will be offered each day and is included with your entry fee.
