HISTORY

The Solomon Trophy is a prestigious association croquet test between Great Britain and the United States. Initiated as an informal contest in 1985, it gained an official silver trophy in 1988 thanks to the generosity of croquet legend John Solomon. Traditionally held annually or biennially, the match features six‑player teams competing in a 21‑match format. Great Britain dominated the early years but the USA’s victories in 2009 and 2011 injected competitive parity and international interest. Today the Solomon Trophy remains a celebrated transatlantic rivalry that helps develop elite players and sustain the profile of association croquet worldwide.
