Morning Coffee: It's GC Championship Week

Click image to visit storeBy the time this post hits the web, the BestInvest Golf Croquet World Championship will be well underway. It looks like another update filled week, but at this point, it's not clear how the tourney will be "broadcast." All hints from the Nottingham list indicate the Under-21 GC scoreboard was a test for the open event. It was pretty slick so let's hope so. As soon as I can detect live scoring, Croquet Network will spread the word. In the meantime, here is the regularly scheduled news update ...

Getting right into the spirit, the Bay of Plenty Times has this preview article on Duncan Dixon. In the article, Dixon expresses concern about post block seeding. Personally, I agree with Dixon and have always felt that the NHL ruined the Stanley Cup playoffs by resorting after the first round. Excerpt:

"Hopefully they won't try and do everything to the letter of the law and [instead] use some logic by applying round-robin finishing order to the top-32 knockout, otherwise what's the difference between finishing first or fourth in your block?" the three-times national golf croquet national champion said.

After an extended absence, the New York Croquet Club has re-opened its club website. Great to see this one back in action, but I do hope they offer the PDF of their club history again as they had on their old site. The 40-page hdocument reads like a history of U.S. croquet--
