Come visit the largest croquet facility in the world, the Chesapeake Bay Croquet Center in Hartfield, Virginia in 2023. Located just one hour from both Richmond International Airport (RIC) and Newport News/Williamsburg International Airport (PHF), Chesapeake Bay is easily accessible by car from anywhere on the Atlantic seaboard. RIC serves all major airlines, and Spirit often has good deals. Avelo Airlines has inexpensive flights in and out of Newport News.
There are several options for lodging in the Chesapeake Bay area, including hotels and bed and breakfasts (B&Bs). The club maintains a list of hotels and B&Bs, and there are many more options available online. The club also has six bedrooms in the clubhouse that can be rented for $45 per night with a once-per-stay $25 cleaning fee. Guests have access to the bathrooms, showers, kitchen and TV area inside the clubhouse.

There are three main categories of croquet activities that attract visitors to Chesapeake Bay: tournaments, training, and crocations. The club hosts several professional tournaments throughout the year, including the Croquet by the Bay – American 6-Wicket Tournament in May, the Rockfish – GC Tournament in June, the Blue Crab – 6W Tournament in September, the Big Oyster GC Tournament in October, and the Women’s GC Friendship Cup in October. Chesapeake Bay also offers croquet boot camps and individual lessons and group training opportunities.
In addition to croquet, Chesapeake Bay is also a great destination for crocations, which are vacations centered around croquet. The club has a variety of activities and amenities, including a pool, hot tub, fitness center, and walking trails. Visitors can also explore the surrounding area, which offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities.
2023 Chesapeake Bay Croquet Festival
CBCC is hosting a festival July 1-2, 2023, that is open to the public. Food vendors, arts and crafts, live music will all available and the Rockfish GC Tournament will be going on in the background. We expect 30 or more vendors and at least 1,000 visitors. The Croquet Festival is a party. Come party with us, play some croquet and be part of the fun at the 2023 Croquet Festival.
TRAINING
CBCC has several boot camps scheduled for 2023. Boot camps are a great value in croquet training. Five days of individualized and group training for just $395. If you want to improve, you must change something that you do. It takes time to make changes, even small ones. 5Five days is the time needed to learn and implement new things in your play. The camps focus on the bio-mechanics of shot-making, strategies and tactics and the mental game that make players successful and make playing croquet a joy.
Chesapeake Bay also offers individual lessons and group training opportunities.
