Hong Kong Croquet Association Recognized by WCF

The Hong Kong Croquet Association (HKCA) has been officially recognized by the World Croquet Federation (WCF) as a Recognized Croquet Organization (RCO). The announcement was made by the WCF's Management Committee, who noted that the HKCA met all of the necessary requirements for membership.

Tom Ingram, the WCF's contact in Hong Kong, has been working closely with the HKCA and local authorities to formalize and approve the association. The HKCA currently has two clubs, the Hong Kong Cricket Club and the Hong Kong Club, with a total of 42 playing members. The association also has a website that is currently in production, and a link to it will be shared on the WCF's Members page in the near future.

In 2022, the HKCA hosted four tournaments and ran a league from September to April. These tournaments included singles and doubles Association croquet and singles and doubles golf croquet. The HKCA also has plans to hold National Championships in April of next year.

The WCF is the international governing body for the sport of croquet, and its main responsibilities include organizing World Championships, facilitating the development of the game, and maintaining effective communication with its members. The WCF is a members-only organization comprising national croquet associations that have been recognized by the WCF as having control over the sport in their respective countries.

There are three categories of membership within the WCF: Full, Associate and Recognized Croquet Organizations (RCOs). Full and Associate Members are entitled to cast votes and influence the administration of the sport, with Full Members receiving between two and eight votes depending on the number of individual members represented by the Member organization. Both Full and Associate Members are also entitled to send at least one representative to any WCF individual world championship and a team to any WCF team world championship.

The WCF organizes World Championships in Association Croquet (AC) and golf croquet (GC), including individual and team championships, as well as Women's AC and GC individual championships and Over-50 and Under-21 GC individual championships.
