Rothman Reigns Again
Ben Rothman took his second singles title in USCA's American Rules National championship today with a 26-10, 26-7 win over Danny Huneycutt. On the doubles side, Rothman and partner Brian Cumming defeated Rich Curtis and Doug Grimsley 26-2 to win the doubles title.
Rothman last won the U.S. rules single title in 2010, the same year that he won the GC National Championship. That double championship accomplishment in 2010 put him in the same club as Mik Mehas who won the American Rules and Association USCA titles in 1998.
Here's how I think the final bracket worked out. Rothman and Huneycutt came from the winner's side:
2012 USCA Singles Bracket - Update 4
Wassink knocked out Mead 16-10 Abdelwahab knocked out Quimby 20-9 Ruby knocked out Bennett 16-7 Cumming knocked out Brackett 26-5
Rothman beat Osborn 26-13 Osborn plays Wassink or Abdelwahab. Huneycutt beat Smith 26-2 Smith plays Cumming or Ruby
2012 USCA Singles Bracket - Update 3
The winner's side is now down to a final four. The loser's side has the following matchups:
Wassink vs Mead, Abdelwahab vs Quimby, Cumming vs Brackett, Ruby vs Bennett
2012 USCA Singles Bracket - Update 2
Evidently, there is a loser's bracket that works back in here. I won't speculate on that, but here is how the winner's side looks:
