Morning Coffee: NC Open, Mission Hills and the Double Target
Ben Rothman won the North Carolina Open this weekend and Jeff Soo posted a nice breakdown on the CroquetNC.org website with diagrams showing all of the key positions.
Bob Alman has an in-depth feature on the Mission Hills Croquet Club in Rancho Mirage, California, that chronicles how the 10-court club has built membership and become the "NCC of the West."
Featured in the Mission Hills Croquet Club article are several beautiful croquet paintings by Veronique Branger.
Leo Nikora has posted a critical gap analysis of roqueting a two-ball target ... relative to the distance of the two target balls. It includes a nice graph showing the percentage of success.
Check out this set of professional photos taken at the 2010 Rocky Mountain International Open. Very nice.

June Croquet Poll: What Shoe Do You Wear?
This month's croquet poll asks the simple question -- what brand of shoe do you prefer for croquet? You can find the poll here on in the right hand column.
Last month's poll asked about croquet news consumption preferences and it seems clear that we need to focus a little more on the website and e-newsletter. Final results:
How do you prefer to receive your croquet news?
Croquet Network Magazine (June Issue Available)
Click to launch the full edition in a new window
The June issue of Croquet Network was released over the weekend and features coverage of the College National Championship played in April at the Merion Cricket Club. In addition, the June issue includes a tribute to Jerry Stark repinted from the Croquet World website along with a profile of U.S. golf croquet champion Mohammad Kamal. As a bonus, Eric Sawyer contributed a report on a recent GC tournament held in Pasadena to honor Kamal.
Regrettably there is an error on the cover. I apologize as Pavlos Papadopoulos was spelled wrong. Surprisingly, changing out a digital magazine is a little more challenging than you might think -- mainly because of URLs and view counts. It will be corrected as soon as possible.
To be notified of future issues, sign up for the Croquet Network newsletter in the right column. View the back issues here -- password free.
Croquet Video: Association Promo Video
Good video promoting croquet in the U.K. Aspect ratio is slightly off.
