Tulsa Hosts Picture-Perfect 2025 Midwest A6W Regional

Perfect conditions greeted players at the 2025 USCA Midwest 6 Wicket Regional Tournament, held August 28–September 1 at the LaFortune Park Croquet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Hosted by the Tulsa Croquet Club over Labor Day Weekend, the event enjoyed the best weather in recent memory throughout all four days of play. Each flight featured 14 competitors, with three 4-handicap players competing in First Flight and one 4.5-handicap player moving up to Championship Flight.

Our New LaFortune Croquet Pavilion

Championship Doubles FInalists

Although all pre-2025 TCC tournaments had enjoyed the rental of a 20’ x 40’ tent, chairs, tables and Porta-johns. Now we don’t have room for all that stuff because we now have a brick and mortar building with heat/air, kitchenette and bathrooms.

Finals Play

Longtime TCC friend now from Denver Matt Smith scored a near perfect game in the Championship Singles Final 26-2 win over TCC Member Kevin McQuigg. And the Matt Smith/Art Parsells partnership beat the Texas partnership, and our dear friends, Britt Ruby/Joe Yoder in Championship Doubles.

FF Doubles Champs: Berry and Stewart

In First Flight Singles Scott Stewart 7 beat Gene Bryan 5 in the Final. And the Steve Berry/Scott Stewart team took 1st Place in First Flight Doubles over the Carl Archiniaco/Gene Bryan pairing (Carl being the only 4 hcp player in First Flight to score a trophy).

We would just like to celebrate our dear friends who travel to Tulsa to play. Our OKC Friends - Regional VP Scott Spradling, Suzanne Spradling, Conner Helms, Carl Archiniaco; Texas Friends – USCA VP John O. Brown, Britt Ruby & Joe Yoder; KC Area Friends – Greg & Jodi Adams, Greg & Joni Clouse, Deborah & Ron Millican; Denver Friends – Matt Smith & Gwendolyn DeSilva, Judith McKeon, Steve Berry; Memphis Friend – Gene Bryan; Louisville Area New Friend – Robert “Scott” Stewart; and New Bartlesville TCC Member Bill Maxey. Welcome All!

A big shout out to Brian Hovis for helping us keep the Entry Fee down to a reasonable amount and coordinating with USCA, to Matt Smith for setting wickets for the Championship courts, to Steve Fisher for sweeping and smoothing the courts, to Joe Steiner for doing a lot of everything necessary to keep things on track, to Tournament Director Matt Baird for scheduling, reporting and managing. And to Barbara Parsells, Ginny Schulte, Lucy Spaulding, Mary Baird, & Karen Hampton for food, drinks and hospitality. Everyone seem to enjoy being here.
