New CFA President Nancy Sansalone

CFA Board of Directors Elects New Officers

April 10, 2026

The Croquet Foundation of America’s Board of Directors announces the implementation of its succession plan as David McCoy steps down as Chairman of the Board.

The newly elected Officers took office on March 18, 2026:

  • Nancy Sansalone, President

  • John Bannister, Vice President

  • Donald Allison, Treasurer

  • Allison Worthington, Secretary

Nancy Sansalone steps into the leadership role previously held by David McCoy. Sansalone, an active member of the National Croquet Club since 2021, brings extensive experience in nonprofit management, with a professional background spanning organizational leadership, strategic planning, and financial oversight. She has held senior executive leadership roles, formerly with the American Society for Microbiology, where she served as Deputy Executive Director/CFO and then Executive Director/CEO.  She also served as CFO/COO at Special Library Association and other nonprofits in Washington, DC, supporting boards of directors, managing complex operations, and advancing development and fundraising initiatives. She simultaneously served in volunteer roles as elected President of the National Association for Women in Education, Co-Founder of the Leveraging Library Leaders National Roundtable and Chair of the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. Throughout her career, Nancy has worked closely with staff, boards, volunteers, and business partners to strengthen governance, improve operational effectiveness, and ensure long-term sustainability for mission-driven organizations. Her depth of experience and steady leadership have made her a trusted advisor in the nonprofit sector.

David McCoy was named Chairman Emeritus, ex officio, by the Board in recognition of his leadership and significant contributions to the Foundation, the National Croquet Center, and the National Croquet Club over the last 20-plus years. McCoy’s involvement with CFA began in 2003 and deepened when he took a leadership role to avoid the NCC from becoming insolvent in 2006 through the 2008 recession. He was elected to the CFA Board in 2009 as President and later to the position of Chairman/CEO. He initiated numerous fundraising efforts and fundamentally reorganized operations, changing from Croquet Enterprises, a for-profit management company running the Center to the non-profit CFA. He created the National Croquet Club in 2010.  David was inducted into the United States Croquet Hall of Fame in 2014.

Hal Denton was named President Emeritus, ex officio, by the Board for his significant contributions, especially to the operations of the Center for the last 14 years at the Center as President/COO of the Foundation. Hal was inducted into the United States Croquet Hall of Fame in 2020.

Last September, the Board hired Franck Meunier as the Executive Director. He directs and manages the day-to-day operational, financial, administrative, and business practices at the Center and works closely with the Board to advance the mission, ensure sound governance and plays an important role in taking the organization to its next stage of growth and impact. Franck has already made major contributions to the efficiency and effectiveness of the Center and last month, the Board agreed to change his title to Chief Executive Officer to clarify his role

The CFA mission continues to be the same: to develop and promote the amateur sport of croquet in America, with a strong emphasis on using our facilities for charitable and educational croquet programs that benefit individuals, our community and society in general. The new leadership team, along with the entire 13-person Board and the CEO, will continue to support and build upon the enhancement of the site by upgrading the back courts, adding new court lighting and a Grand Pavilion and Patio, as well as other improvements at the National Croquet Center. Further development of our charitable and educational outreach programs will also be prioritized with the objective to position the National Croquet Center as the Center of Excellence and “jewel in the crown” of croquet venues worldwide.

Please contact Franck Meunier, CEO, for more information at executive.director@croquetnational.com or 561-478-2300.
