2016 AC Worlds-Into the Knockout

Other than MacRob, there's nothing better in the sport of croquet than the opening day of the AC Worlds knockout. For regular citizens, that means the World Championship is now entering into the playoff phase with 32 players. It's not clear yet as to whether or not today's round will be best of five or best of three, but it should be clear soon enough.

As for the actual matchups and bracket, I'm not sure that I'll ever force myself to read the WCF Sports Regs to fully understand the selection, but it always produces some interesting scenarios ...

It's been an entertaining eight days of croquet at the 2016 WCF World Championship in West Palm Beach, Florida. As we prepare for a few remaining block finishes and the tiebreaker, we'll note that Mark Avery (9-0) (ENG) and Simon Jenkins (6-3) (USA) have made it all the way from the qualifier to the knockout. Also from the qualifier, Ted Salter (5-4) (AUS) could make the tiebreaker playoff, if Chris Patmore can defeat Ian Lines in the last remaining game for Block F.

Crowdsourcing the Kamal Cup

This video provides some information on an innovative approach that Eric Sawyer and the Pasadena Croquet Club are taking to fund a purse for the 2016 Kamal Cup golf croquet tournament to be held at the club June 11-12, 2016. The club is using the Tilt platform to ask donors to help fund the target purse of $3,500 with the idea of drawing in top US GC players. Through Tilt, the donation process is simplified and perks are provided for specific levels of donation.
