Australia and New Zealand Announce Teams for 2026 MacRobertson Shield

The final two teams have named their squads for the 2026 MacRobertson Shield, with both Australia and New Zealand confirming the six-player teams that will compete this summer in England in one of the sport’s most prestigious international events.

The MacRobertson Shield, regarded as the premier team championship in Association Croquet, will be contested from July 24 through August 9 across several of England’s leading croquet venues. The event features an elite multi-test format that demands endurance, adaptability, consistency, and world-class match play over more than two weeks of competition.

Australia Names Experienced Squad

Croquet Australia announced its team following the completion of the Association Croquet Selection Committee’s review process. Australia’s 2026 MacRobertson Shield team includes:

  • Stephen Forster (vice-captain)

  • Edward Wilson

  • Greg Hill

  • Stephen Pearce

  • Trevor Bassett

  • Dwayne McCormick

Additional appointments include:

  • Peter Landrebe (non-playing captain)

  • Lachlan Berryman (non-traveling reserve)

Croquet Australia noted that representing the nation at the MacRobertson Shield is considered one of the highest honors in the sport and congratulated the selected players as preparations begin for the championship campaign.

New Zealand Finalizes Selection

Croquet New Zealand also confirmed its roster for the event, naming a team featuring a blend of established international competitors and rising talent.

New Zealand’s 2026 team consists of:

  • Edmund Fordyce

  • Logan McCorkindale

  • Aaron Westerby

  • Felix Webby

The announcement was made by the MacRobertson Shield Selection Committee of Croquet New Zealand.

2026 MacRobertson Shield Schedule

The 2026 MacRobertson Shield will be played across three test series at some of England’s premier croquet clubs:

  • Test Series 1: July 24–28 at the Roehampton Club and Hurlingham Club

  • Test Series 2: July 30–August 3 at the Sussex County Croquet Club

  • Test Series 3: August 5–9 at the Surbiton Croquet Club
